(1964-    ) Northern Irish artist, in the mainland UK from 1972, who first began to publish artwork in the Role Playing Game magazine Proteus in 1985, and studied graphic design at Hull University 1986-1989. He subsequently contributed many illustrations to Games Workshop's games magazine White Dwarf. Illustrative work associated with the Doctor Who franchise includes over a dozen covers 1994-1996 for the Doctor Who Books (an imprint of Virgin Publishing) Doctor Who: Missing Adventures and Doctor Who: New Adventures series, appearing on Ties by Christopher Bulis, Paul Cornell, Martin Day, Mark Gatiss, Paul Leonard, Steve Lyons, Stephen Marley, Simon Messingham, Jim Mortimore and Marc Platt; further 1990s covers for the Comic Doctor Who Classic Comics; the cover of the Doctor Who Magazine Spring 1996 Special; and yet more covers for the Penguin Doctor Who line in 2011. Campbell has also worked on various Boxtree series including Horror High.

This artist should not be confused with the Paul Campbell who edited Extro in 1982. [DRL]
