(? - ) UK criminal lawyer and author whose first novel after several nonfantastic tales, The Space Between the Stars (2017), attempts with some ambition to use a Space Opera frame to interrogate various practical and moral issues following the virtual elimination of Homo sapiens both on Earth and across a swathe of settled planets (see Colonization of Other Worlds). The veterinarian protagonist embarks on a Fantastic Voyage back to Earth, where her lover has promised to meet her if they survive. He turns out to have become integral to a highly doctrinaire Dystopian successor state. The rights and wrongs of repopulating the universe with Homo sapiens are discussed, though action takes over in the end. [JC]
