Future Orbits

Entry updated 18 March 2024. Tagged: Publication.

US professional E-Zine, an Online Magazine only available by subscription and emailed to the subscriber. It was produced by Tom Vander Neut of Hatboro Pennsylvania. It ran for five bimonthly issues from October/November 2001 to June/July 2002. A valiant attempt to produce an online magazine that paid full professional rates and tried to charge subscribers for issues. It did not succeed, but the five issues were still of acceptable quality containing material primarily by the new generation of writers prepared to indulge in what the internet might offer. They included Keith Brooke, Andrew Burt, Richard Parks, Brian Plante, James Van Pelt and K D Wentworth amongst others. Each issue contained a science article including an unusual one on Clones by Gregory E Pence in issue #2 (December 2001). None of the stories appear to have been reprinted although Brooke's "Genetopia" (October/November 2001) was later reworked as a chapter in his novel Genetopia (2006). [MA]
