Pseudonym of the unidentified author (? -? ) of The Overlord: The Story of the Peons of Canada (1904), a Near Future depiction of Canada under a dictatorship. The upcoming business magnate protagonist of The Mechanic (1906) powers his rise initially through an Invention of his father, an improved method for refining iron ore into steel; his own later inventions include a vastly improved typesetting machine. En passant he discovers, in an old Native American mine (see Lost Worlds), a fluid which almost magically increases the efficiency of oil when burned. [JC]
