(1949-    ) US author Rhondi Ann Vilott Salsitz, who began to publish work of genre interest with "Persephone" in Orbit 21 (anth 1980) edited by Damon Knight, as Rhondi Vilott. Titles under an abbreviation of her full name, Rhondi Vilott, and less frequently under her married name, R A V Salsitz, have been restricted to fantasies [see Checklist]; she has also written as by Emily Drake, Elizabeth Forest, Anne Knight and Jenna Rhodes [again see Checklist], all mostly fantasy. Her work as by Charles Ingrid, however, is sf. Of the three series of Ingrid military Space Operas, the best is the first, the Sand Wars sequence, beginning with Solarkill (1987) and ending with Challenge Met (1990), featuring the implausible (but energetic) exploits of the invulnerable Jack Storm in conflict with (and service to) a Galactic Empire. The lesser Marked Man sequence includes The Marked Man (1989) and The Last Recall (1991); the Patterns of Chaos sequence begins with Radius of Doubt (1991) and ends with Soulfire (1995). [JC]
