(1958- ) US author who began to publish work of genre interest with "The Trouble with Xenodes" in Weird Stories for January 1989. Though largely inclined toward fantasy and Horror he has written a number of slightly desultory sf stories, most of them assembled in The Spectral Carnival Show and Other Stories (coll 1998; rev vt Aliens, Minibikes and Other Staples of Suburbia 2001) and All the Mutant Trash in All the Galaxies (coll 2003). Of more intense interest is Skimming the Gumbo Nuclear (2002), a gonzo sf take on southern Louisiana (where the author is based) as a region pullulant with Disasters and environmental Pollution, including some unpleasant plagues (see Pandemic), but not – given its date – Hurricane Katrina.
