Pseudonym of an unidentified French author (1916-? ) whose sf novel, "Ce pourrait se passe comme ca" (1950 Ce Matin; trans Joseph F McCrindle as When and If 1952; vt It Happened Like This 1953), describes World War Three between the West and Soviet Russia in considerable detail, much of the narrative following Future War conventions where battles tend to be described minutely; nuclear weapons are eventually used, causing the destruction of London and New York and much of the rest of the world, though the final battles are conducted in a chastened, post-nuclear mood. The West wins. [JC]
