Zabel, Bryce

Entry updated 12 September 2022. Tagged: Author.

(1954-    ) US journalist, screenwriter, broadcaster and author. Some of his scripts are of sf interest, including those for such series as Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1993-1997), M.A.N.T.I.S. (1994-1995), Dark Skies (20 60-minute episodes 1996) (see Television), about a 1960s Invasion of America by UFOs, and Dark Angel (2000-2002). His first sf novel, Surrounded by Enemies: What If Kennedy Survived Dallas? (2013), set in an Alternate History America where Kennedy (see Icons) is not killed, suggests that the Kennedy brothers would become embroiled in the search for those behind the attempted assassination, derailing America from the era of progress his survival seemed to augur. This book tied for the Sidewise Award, long form – an award which Zabel won in 2018 for his second novel Once There Was a Way (2017), whose premise is that the Beatles stayed together rather than breaking up in 1970.
