(1943- ) UK-born author of children's fiction, in Australia from the age of six; of his numerous titles, almost all of which are non-fantastic adventures, most of them for younger children, two of his Young Adult tales are of sf interest. In Megan's Star (1988), a Telepathic link between an impoverished girl and a boy who has escaped an institution leads to contact with Aliens; in Magician (2002), which is set in a primitive Far Future, the eponymous magician reveals to the young protagonists that a mysterious Tower is there for a purpose: to guide a starship back home, and to begin the recovery of Earth.
