(?1958- ) US Comics author, computer games designer from the 1980s, and author who began publishing fiction of genre interest with "Thunder Pigeon" for Fantasy Book in June 1985. In comics, he is perhaps best known for Jack the Ripper (October 1989-February 1990 Eternity Comics; graph 1990) illustrated Paul Mendoza, and for writing Keith Laumer's Retief (December 1989-October 1990 Adventure Comics), which is based on the Keith Laumer series Retief. His first novel, Star Crusader (1995), is tied to a computer game; his sf tends to focus on a Near Future environment stressed by government initiatives, with AIs very much in evidence. The Forge of Mars (2002) and its sequel, The Digital Dead (2003), deal within this overall frame with the discovery on Mars of Alien ruins; The Prometheus Road (2004) focuses on the relationship between inner worlds of the self and Virtual Reality.
