(1943- ) US teacher and author whose first novel, The Alien Within (1988), carries its revenge-seeking female protagonist through a crumbling Galactic Federation, introducing her to a variety of Alien empires. Bolton's second novel, Mission: Tori (1990), also featuring a bereaved female protagonist, addresses but does not solve the mysteries surrounding the mineral-rich and much desired planet of Tori. Both book are in fact romances. [JC]
