Different Realities

Entry updated 22 September 2020. Tagged: Publication.

US Print Magazine dedicated to translating sf into English from French, Italian and Dutch sources; edited by Joe F Randolph of Washington, District of Columbia, who also did all the translations. Different Realities saw four large-size issues dated August and December in 1997 and 1998. The first two issues concentrated on short fiction, with work by Gerben Hellinga, Serge Rollet, Alain le Bussy, Daniel Walther and others. The final two issues ran longer material, including a two-part serial, "Black Venus: Death and Rebirth" (May 1991 Futuro Europa as "La Venere nera") by Bruno Vitiello (1966-    ). As with many previous magazines attempting to create awareness of non-English sf (see Altair; International SF; SF International), its efforts were not fully appreciated. [MA]
