Exuberance

Tagged: Publication

UK Amateur Magazine published and edited by Jason R Smith, Chipperfield, Hertfordshire. A4 format and planned as quarterly, though never quite achieving that, it saw six issues between September 1990 and a long delayed final issue in October 1993. It called itself "The Illustrated Magazine of Horror, Fantasy & Science Fiction" and although sf came last in the list the magazine published a fair amount of sf, though much of it downbeat. Several readers commented on the irony of calling such a pessimistic magazine Exuberance. Issue #3 (Spring 1991) was a D F Lewis special, and issue #4 (Winter 1991/2) was devoted to Joel Lane. It carried a number of interviews, notably with Iain Banks (Spring 1991 #3) and Stephen R Donaldson (1993 #6). [MA]
