US Digest-size magazine. Five issues 1963-1965, published by Star Press, North Hollywood; edited by William F Nolan for three issues, then by Jack Matcha and Charles E Fritch. The fiction in this magazine – a blend of sf and fantasy – was of good quality, many stories being by Californian writers with film connections, like Charles Beaumont and Richard Matheson, and there were some fine covers by Morris Scott Dollens and John Healey. The fourth number was labelled a special "Outer Space" issue. The last two issues, without the monitoring hand of Nolan, drifted into Pulp adventure territory, fun but nothing special. A lack of finance and direction led to a gradual but long drawn out demise. A sixth issue was rumoured for months, but it never appeared. [MA/PN]
