(1958- ) US lawyer and author whose novels are mostly Technothrillers, though his first, Arc Light (1994), depicts the full-blown onset of World War Three as nuclear conflict between Russia and China rapidly escalates, and America becomes involved in an Asian land war. Society of the Mind: A Cyberthriller (1996) describes "knowledge" as a self-replicating virus, by virtue of which Computers may turn into AIs and rule the world. Protect and Defend (1997) and Invasion (2000) return to the Future War concerns of his first novel. [JC]
