(? - ) US author whose Young Adult Near Future Brokenhearted sequence beginning with The Brokenhearted (2013), and set in a Dystopian version of New York here called Bedlam, puts more emphasis on the romantic element than perhaps normal in this kind of fiction. The mandatory love triangle soon turns violent: the young protagonist runs away with her louche lover, is killed, awakens with Superpowers, which augment her ballerina skills. In The Invisible: A Brokenhearted Novel (2014), she resists being a Superhero, even after the death of one of the young men enamoured of her. But duty calls. [JC]
