Pseudonym of Canadian teacher and author Caryn Swark (1979- ), whose Young Adult series, the Sanctuary sequence beginning with Sanctuary (2018), is set at first in a Space Habitat operated by the vast Omnistellar Concepts as a Prison, where, unusually, the young protagonist aspires to rise in the ranks of the elite who serve as guards. Expectedly, a menace – perhaps of ancient Alien origin – exposes the true intramural power of the vast corrupt corporation. The emotionally-charged protagonist and her young friends soon find themselves on the run, ending on another planet, for the scope of the tale has become Space-Operatic. [JC]
