Working name of Rodney Carl Martin Jr (1950- ), US software engineer and author, primarily of nonfiction as Rod Martin Jr [not listed below]. With John Dalmas he wrote Touch the Stars: Emergence (1983), in which US researchers developing a Faster Than Light drive allowing interstellar travel are opposed by Secret Masters who wish to keep humanity Earthbound and under their control. Martin's solo Space Opera sequel, adding Aliens to the mix and escalating to galaxy-wide War, is Touch the Stars: Diaspora (2014). The later Edge of Remembrance sequence opening with Edge of Remembrance: Gods and Dragons (2017 ebook) links discoveries by archaeologists in the present and in a forgotten advanced civilization of Earth's deep past.
