(1932- ) Polish-born lawyer, investment counsellor and author, born Leo Melamdovich, a name simplified during his family's World War Two escape from Poland via Siberia and Japan to the US in the spring of 1941; most of his later work is nonfiction about the financial markets. Of sf interest is his first book, The Tenth Planet (1987), a tale in which an ancient Android may hold the secret to human Evolution, in accordance with the theories of Immanuel Velikovsky. [JC]
