(1865-1955) US journalist, suffragist and author, instrumental in gaining the vote for women in Colorado in 1893. Her sf novel, The Master-Knot of Human Fate (1901), focus on a man and woman in a Rocky Mountain enclave who – after a great Disaster has isolated them – may be the only humans left alive (see End of the World; Last Man); but (see Adam and Eve) they are prepared to start the race again, with God's help.
