(1926-2005) US aviator and author whose Alpha Bug (1986) is a Near Future tale in which the Soviet Union attempts to create its own Star Wars system. The Icemen: A Novel of Antarctica (1988), about a cadre of Nazis planning to attack the world from Antarctica, is nonfantastic, except for a secret biological Weapon whose release could bring doom.
