Story factory or fiction packager operated by Edward T Stratemeyer (whom see) and subsequently (from 1930) by his daughter Harriet Stratemeyer Adams. Beginning in 1899 with the Rover Boys sequence written by Edward T Stratemeyer himself, the Syndicate generated hundreds of boys' and girls' books in such popular series as The Bobbsey Twins, The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew and many others. The most famous series of sf relevance was Tom Swift. Syndicate House Names included Victor Appleton, Franklin Dixon and Roy Rockwood. Associated authors with entries in this encyclopedia are Jack Binns, Weldon Cobb, John William Duffield and Howard R Garis. [DRL/EFB]
