(1972- ) Venezuelan physicist, metrologist, quality auditor, editor and author of fantasy, horror and science fiction short stories, her first genre publication being "La esperanza es lo último que se pierde" ["Hope is the Last Thing to Go"] (in Visiones 2000, anth 2000). She is best known as editor of the international Webzine Crónicas de la Forja (launched in 2006), webmaster of the website FORJADORES.NET and owner of the online writing workshop Los Forjadores [see under links below]. Her narratives alternate between Heroic Fantasy, modern Fantasy, urban fantasy [see The Encyclopedia of Fantasy under links below], Hard SF, Dystopias, weird fantasy, supernatural Horror and genre-crossing stories. Her story "De Carachdraug y Gorgûl" ["About Carachdraug and Gorgûl"] (2005 Sociedad Tolkien Uruguaya web) won the second prize in the 2005 Quenta-Mellon competition run by the Sociedad Tolkien Uruguaya. In this story she pays homage to J R R Tolkien with the conversion of two elves to orcs by Sauron, their late redemption and the legend of their child who went to Valinor. In Caracas, capital city of Venezuela, Sussmann is an activist for the development of the Venezuelan sf movement and organizes a monthly meeting of fans, readers, writers, publishers, editors and other people involved with sf, fantasy and horror. This meeting, the Tertulia Caraqueña de Ciencia Ficción, Fantasía y Terror, whose acronym is TerCa, has been a regular event since 2005. [SS]
